Your mission
(should you choose to accept it)

We are on the way to automating the entire workflow of the production of 3D objects.

As CTO, you will form and lead the development team that gets this done.

You will be a bridge officer on the starship SO REAL, part science officer, part chief engineer. As science officer, you must figure out what tech and skills we'll need to overcome the current challenges the as well as next ones and the next. The rest of the crew will come to you seeking answers to mysteries. You explain. You teach. You mentor. As chief engineer, once it is decided what it we need, you will have to implement it.

Who we are

We mass-produce and sell cinematic-quality, xR- & game-ready 3D objects using our patented (pending) scanning and conversion technology.

We are a diverse group of entrepreneurs, academics, (ex)-rockers, writers, techies, and parents (of both the two legged and four legged varieties) who all have two things in common. We want to make a positive impact on the planet and we love doing things that have never been done before.

Our positive impact: together we will make the world smaller.

How? Immersive experiences build empathy and understanding across borders. By automating the production of 3D objects, we help developers accelerate the production of new experiences, games, and films. With very little effort, SO REAL can create 1000's of digital twins of 3D objects, each of which can be sold 1000's of times. Snail-pace production will soon go the way of the phone booth. (But we do so miss those red telephone boxes in England. Maybe we'll buy one online.)

We are a startup company, built on a collaborative culture of experimentation, trust, and transparency. We believe that a fulfilling workplace includes fostering personal learning and growth. The MUST-HAVE's

SO REAL lives at the intersection of physics, computer science, and art. We know that it is delusional to think that all the know-how needed to grow our business could be located within one mere mortal. But, here is a list of skills needed. The more you have, the better.

The MUST-HAVE's. Please bring at least THREE out of these:

  • 3+ years' experience building and leading software development teams
  • experience in software architecture (e.g. you designed your in-house graphics pipeline)
  • deep understanding of 3D graphics (e.g. you have SIGGRAPH publications)
  • hands on experience with Unity, Unreal, or another game engine, (e.g. you and your team created an XR experience that everyone is still talking about)
  •  hands on experience processing large datasets (e.g. you built the data backend for that volumetric climate simulator)

Big BONUS POINTS if you also bring

  • a track record building and leading multidisciplinary development teams
  • hands on experience using VFX utilities and DCC tools such as Houdini, Maya, Blender, etc.
  • experience in processing of volumetric data
  • experience in machine learning (large neural networks)
  • university or FH-level physics
  • experience as a game developer or Technical Director (TD). The key is thinking in terms of "workflow".
  • experience as software pipeline engineer
